Baggage Policy | Air Booker Direct

Baggage Policy Information

Understand your baggage allowances before you fly. Since we compare hundreds of airlines, baggage rules vary significantly by carrier and fare type.

Crucial Notice Regarding Baggage Fees

As an independent travel agency, Air Booker Direct does not set baggage allowances or fees. All rules, dimensions, and costs for carry-on and checked luggage are determined strictly by the operating airline. The base fare quoted by our agents or found on our search engine may not include checked baggage, especially on "Basic Economy" or low-cost carrier tickets.

Standard Baggage Types

While exact dimensions vary, airlines generally categorize luggage into three main types.

Personal Item

Usually a purse, laptop bag, or small backpack.

  • Must fit under the seat in front of you.
  • Almost always included free of charge on all ticket types.

Carry-On Bag

Typically a small roller bag or duffel.

  • Must fit in the overhead bin.
  • Warning: Often NOT included in "Basic Economy" fares on major airlines or low-cost carriers (e.g., Spirit, Frontier).
FEE APPLIES

Checked Baggage

Larger suitcases checked at the ticket counter.

  • Stored in the cargo hold.
  • Usually subject to strict weight limits (often 50 lbs / 23 kg).
  • Extra fees almost always apply for domestic US flights.

How to Verify Your Baggage Allowance

1

Before Booking (Calling Us)

If you are booking over the phone, please explicitly ask our agent what baggage is included in the quoted fare. If you know you need to check a bag, tell the agent immediately so they can quote you a fare class that includes luggage, which is often cheaper than adding bags later at the airport.

2

During Online Checkout

When using our online search engine, pay close attention to the icons or details listed next to the flight options. We will indicate if the fare is a restrictive "Basic" fare.

3

After Booking (Managing Your Trip)

Once you have your confirmation email and 6-character booking reference (PNR), the best way to confirm baggage rules or pay for extra bags is to visit the operating airline's official website directly. Go to the airline's "Manage Booking" or "My Trips" section and enter your PNR and last name.

A Note on Prohibited Items

For security reasons, certain items are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked luggage (e.g., flammable liquids, explosives, specific lithium batteries). Please refer to the TSA's official "What Can I Bring?" list for comprehensive guidelines on US flights.
